Looking to be able to connect to the community
differently than you have?
What does it mean to be a DSP (Direct Support Professional)?
Direct support professionals are individuals who work closely with people who have physical, intellectual or developmental disabilities and help them integrate into their communities. Direct support professionals are different from other care positions in that DSP's strive for their client to be able to home in on independent life skills and be able to advocate for those they are supporting if needed. DSP's also support in moving closer to goals that have been set with the client and their team in order to work on what the client feels can be beneficial for their own lives without becoming dependent on others.
